The basics

A wheel has numbered pockets; a ball is spun and lands in one. European roulette has 37 pockets (1-36 and a single 0); American roulette adds a 00 for 38. You bet before the spin on a number, a group of numbers, a colour, odd/even or a range, and winning bets are paid at fixed odds.

Bets and payouts (standard tables)

The house edge

The zero is the casino's edge. A ₱100 straight-up bet on a single-zero wheel: you win ₱3,500 profit 1 time in 37 and lose ₱100 the other 36, an average of (35 − 36) ÷ 37 = −₱2.70, so a 2.70% edge. With the extra 00 the same bet loses on average ₱5.26 per ₱100. Every standard bet has the same edge (the 5-number basket on American wheels is the exception, at about 7.9%); only the variance differs. Prefer single-zero tables when you have a choice.

La partage, and what the edge costs over a session

Some tables use la partage: on an even-money bet, a zero returns half your stake. Wizard of Odds puts the resulting edge on those bets at 1.35%, about half of 2.70%; "en prison" variants come out slightly higher (about 1.37% to 1.39%). Whether a live table uses either rule is not shown on PAGCOR's lists, so read the table rules. To see the scale (our arithmetic): 100 spins of ₱100 on red at a single-zero table without la partage is ₱10,000 staked and an average loss of about ₱270; at a double-zero table it is about ₱526. Real sessions land far above and below these averages.

Systems and mistakes

• Martingale (doubling after a loss): eventually hits a table limit or your balance.
• "Hot" and "cold" numbers: past spins do not affect the next.
• Live roulette on social media: PAGCOR warned in July 2025 that livestreamed gambling there is likely illegal.
